Thank You for visiting our Health Topic of the Month

February is the month that we all celebrate Valentines Day. This is the day we show everyone we care about just how much, with something as simple as a box of candy in the shape of a heart, or perhaps a heart shaped necklace. The kids bring us home picture of hearts representing how much they love us. Happy Valentines Day!
February is also a very important month in a lot of other ways as well. It is the month that American Heart Association has deemed Heart Health Month!  All of us at Minonk Ambulance Service would like to extend an invitation to stop in at Minonk Ambulance and get your blood pressure checked.
It is also the time in which you should check your CPR Cards Expiration date. What? You don’t have a CPR card? You had one years ago? We can fix that, we have instructors on site, that’s right just a phone call away. Come on, pick up that phone what are you waiting for? Everyone should know CPR and be familiar with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Almost every airport, health club, and every school your child attend as an AED. It is all of our responsibility to know how to operate one in the event it may be needed. You could be the one possible person that knows what to do if you pick up the phone and call 309-432-2730.
Since it is Heart Healthy month we would like to share this link to heart healthy recipes from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. It is something that all ages will enjoy, and let’s face it; you are never too young to start thinking about having a healthy heart. Let the kids help, and while you are preparing the meal, explain to them the dangers of not eating healthy, and how one can do damage to their heart just by the things they eat. A happy healthy heart helps us maintain a happy healthy life.
